Service Engineering Apprentice
As a Service Engineering Apprentice at RSP UK Suction Excavators Ltd, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop technical skills.
You will work closely with experienced service engineers and technicians to support the R&G Group products, including suction excavators and vacuum tankers. Delivering maintenance, repair, and servicing.
This apprenticeship program will provide you with comprehensive training and hands-on experience to become a skilled service engineer.

Position duration:
Permanent, Monday – Friday 7am – 5.30pm with an unpaid 30min break. Day release for college.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist in Equipment Maintenance: Support the service engineering team in routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on suction excavators and other group products to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Learn to identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues in group products and assist in implementing appropriate solutions.
- Service Documentation: Assist in maintaining accurate service records, including equipment maintenance logs, repair reports, and parts inventory.
- Parts Management: Learn to identify and order necessary parts and components for repairs and maintenance, ensuring timely availability and efficient inventory management.
- Workshop Support: Assist in the workshop, including equipment cleaning, organising tools and equipment, and maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.
- Field Support: Accompany experienced service engineers to customer sites for on-site repairs, servicing, and troubleshooting of group products.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Learning and Development: Actively participate in training programs, workshops, and courses to enhance technical knowledge and skills in service engineering.
- Customer Service: Develop effective communication skills and provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas and suggestions for process improvements and efficiencies within the service engineering department.
Qualifications Skills and Attributes Required:
- GCSE Maths and English 4 or equivalent qualification.
- A-levels or BTEC Qualification or equivalent qualification.
- Strong interest in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles and concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to health and safety regulation.
